Medication Management
Medication management is an ongoing, collaborative process focused on finding the right treatment approach for your unique needs. Our providers work closely with you to monitor your response to medication, make adjustments when needed, and ensure your treatment continues to support your goals.

What's Involved
- Regular follow-up appointments to assess progress
- Monitoring of medication effectiveness and side effects
- Dosage adjustments based on your response
- Coordination with other providers as needed
- Use of measurement-based tools to track symptom changes
- Open discussion of any concerns or questions
Our Approach
We take a structured, evidence-based approach to medication management. Rather than relying on a single assessment, we use regular check-ins and standardized tools to track your progress over time. This allows us to make more precise treatment decisions and ensure your medication is truly working for you.
What Patients Can Expect
Follow-up visits are typically shorter than initial evaluations and focus on reviewing how you're doing, addressing any changes in symptoms, and planning next steps. Our goal is to keep your treatment on track and adjust as your needs evolve.
Expect the first stretch to take some patience. Most antidepressants need two to six weeks before their full effect is clear, and side effects often show up before the benefit does — which is the main reason people stop a medication that would have worked. We will tell you what to watch for, and we would far rather hear from you between visits than have you wait it out alone.
Note About Counseling Services
Counseling services at Maryland Wellness & Psychiatry are currently available for existing patients who are also receiving medication management. We do not offer counseling as a standalone service for new patients at this time.
